As many as 260 cartons of alcoholic drinks were destroyed in Misau local government area of Bauchi state on Sunday.
The destruction of the Sharia-banned product was effected by the Hisbah Command, Shariah Commission, Bauchi State.
The Permanent Commissioner (II) in charge of Hisbah, Alhaji Aminu Isah, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen.
Noting that Hisbah’s action was in line with Section 403 of the Bauchi State law which empowers it to stop the sale and consumption of alcohol in the state, he stated that the exercise was conducted in the presence of security operatives as well as the chairman of the Bauchi State Shariah Commission.
He submitted that the Hisbah command in the state would not relent in ensuring full compliance with the provisions of Sharia, assuring however that the commission would not target anyone or individual for persecution but only those who violated the law
We will go about it “without vindictiveness, witch-hunt, fear or favour.”
