Amb. (Dr.) Olatunde Okelana JP, DFAIJP, has been admitted as Doctoral Fellow of the African Institute for Justices of the Peace (AIJP).

The investiture came up Saturday (September 21) at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, along with that of others.

According to the AIJP, the award is “in recognition of his distinguished service and commitment to advancing Justice and Peace in Africa.”

With the conferment he is “authorized to use DFAIJP after his name,” while his membership number is given as “DFL/AIJP/B – 004.”

Below is the citation of Sir (Dr) Olatunde Okelana, who is the Balogun Olugbon of Orile-Igbon and also a fellow and life member of Nigerian Society for Criminology (NSC) as contained in the programme bulletin of the occasion.

Sir Olatunde Okelana, JP, is an exemplary visionary, distinguished leader, and ardent champion of justice, peace, and conflict resolution. His remarkable trajectory, marked by unwavering dedication, unrelenting passion, and exceptional achievements, has earned him a distinguished place among Africa’s foremost justice and peace advocates.

As a retired military officer with an illustrious career spanning over three decades, Sir Okelana demonstrated bravery, strategic acumen, and uncompromising commitment to national security. His meritorious service has been recognized through various honors and accolades.

Beyond his military accomplishments, Sir Okelana has distinguished himself as a traditional Chief (Balogun of Orile-Igbon), and Knight of St. Bernard Commandery No 35, Chicago IL, USA. These esteemed titles underscore his leadership prowess, cultural significance, and international recognition.

Sir Okelana’s academic excellence is equally impressive. His nearing completion PhD in Criminology and Security Studies, coupled with advanced degrees in Criminal Justice and French, demonstrates his relentless pursuit of knowledge and expertise. His scholarly endeavors have equipped him with a profound understanding of justice, peace, and conflict dynamics.

As a conflict mediator, Justice of Peace, and member of esteemed professional bodies, including the Nigerian Computer Society and Midwestern Criminal Justice Association (MCJA), USA, Sir Okelana has consistently promoted justice, peace, and conflict resolution. His expertise has been sought in various capacities, including the Alternate Dispute Resolution Unit of the State Department of Justice for Ogbomoso Zone.
