Ogbomoso youth group appeals to govt over collapsed bridge

Ogbomoso Community Youth Forum (OCYF) has appealed to the federal government of Nigeria, Oyo state government and political stakeholders to rescue people of Ogbomoso and interstate travellers by rehabilitating the collapsed bridge at Odo Oru area beside NEPA headquarters, Ogbomoso, Oyo state.

This plea was made Thursday during a press engagement held the group beside the dilapidated bridge.
Speaking with newsmen, general secretary of the non-governmental organization, Dr. Adeniji Idowu, called on the state government, federal government and political bigwigs to help innocent people in reconstructing the dilapidated portions of the road and the bridge which he observed are becoming death traps.

“I’m using this medium to call on the federal government, political leaders in Ogbomoso to kindly come our rescue on this road. This place is becoming a death trap.
“So, we are pleading with the Oyo state government as well to kindly come to our rescue by helping us out of this mess,” he stated.

Another leader of the group, Dr. Adunola Olugbemiga, unveiling the reason government needs to hastily swing into action to rehabilitate the road in discourse, noted, “We are appealing to all concerned stakeholders, people in positions of authorities and affluence that the reconstruction needs to be done as quick as possible in respect to this part of the road. It’s becoming a death trap and as we are approaching rainy season, it is important that something be done to avoid a bad occurrence which we never pray for”.
A passer-by, Apostle Moses Oladeji, also lamented the despicable condition of the road, appealing to the people at the corridors of power to come to their aid.

“I plead the government in the name of God to help us repair this road, many people are getting injured and is claiming the lives of innocent people,” Oladeji remarked.
Hamdalat Adeleke, a trader at the area, similarly lamented the condition of the road noting it had become “scary for people to ply the road.”
“We are scared with the bad condition of the parts of the road, it is risky for our lives, even pedestrians are often extra-careful when walking its side. when going home,” she said.
Ogbomoso Insight recalls a bus loaded with passengers recently fell into the ditch created by the collapsing bridge causing it to somersault. Many other unsuspecting road users have fallen into the crater.
