Ayede Poly: FG approves key project to facilitate relocation to permanent site

Federal Polytechnic Ayede, near Ogbomoso, Oyo state, whch began temporarily at Iresaapa Surulere local government, will relocate to its permanent site the moment the roads linking the site from Ogbomoso – Oyo road and Ogbomoso – Otamokun road are constructed and paved with asphalt.
Constructions of structures at the Ayede permanent site have unfolded at an impressive rate with key facilities already completed or nearing completion.
“Yes, the number of buildings at the site are enough to commence academic activities there but the access roads are in disrepair, and that is what may delay the relocation there,” sources at Ayede community told ogbomosoinsightonline.com.
It would be recalled that the institution had, last year, announced its determination to move to the permanent site before the end of 2023.
Speaking with Ogbomoso Insight, the Protocols and Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the institution, Mr. Sunday Adepoju, stated that the principal officers and the entire management are determined to effect the movement to the permanent site in record time.
Adepoju said, “I must commend the pioneer Governing Council ably led by Prof. Dakas C. J. Dakas (SAN); our Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE); the Principal Officers and the entire Management for their zeal towards realising the dream.
“It was our initial plan to move before the end of 2023.

“A lot of constructions and electrification projects are ongoing ar the site. A major reason hampering the movement is the access road, either from Idi Araba or Odo Oba.
“Based on this, our Rector is not sparing efforts at reaching out to the Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde; Federal Ministry of Works and Housing and other agencies.”
Meanwhile, a source close to the corridors of power in Abuja, has disclosed that the construction of the access roads to the permanent site is captured in the 2024 budget by the federal government.
According to the source, the road constructions are in two phases – Ayede to Oolo and Ayede to Idi-Araba.
“If these two access roads are executed, the relocation plan to the permanent site will be implementqed. More structures are even being built at the site now. The management is doing a yeoman’s job,” another source close to the institution says.
The site also needs to be connected to the national power grid for electricity supply.
The roads meanwhile are state government roads.
