Isese holiday: Court postpones sitting on Soun suit – see new day to fix judgment date

Those anticipating to learn of the date an High Court sitting in Ogbomoso will give the date to deliver ruling on the contentious issue of Soun of Ogbomoso ascension will have to wait a little more as the date earlier scheduled (Monday August 21) has had to be shifted sequel to the declaration of August 21 as public holiday to commemorate Isese Day in Oyo state.
ogbomosoinsightonline.com reported that the written addresses of the plaintiff and defendants in the suit would be adopted on Monday, August 21 with the date for judgement to be consequently given that same date or later communicated to the counsels.

The suit was instituted by Prince Mohammed Kabir Olaoye to challenge the nomination of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as Soun by the kingmakers.
It is one of the main litigation that has stalled the process of the enthronement of a new Oba in Ogbomoso following the insistence of the Oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde that he would not assent to the nomination unless the court cases are withdrawn. The case has dragged on for over a year now.

Following the approval of August 20 of every year as Isese Day by the Oyo state governor, Makinde, and subsequent declaration of Monday, August 21 as the maiden public holiday to commemorate the day, the court would be observing the holiday as well and hence will not sit be able to sit on that date as earlier envisaged.
The new date therefore according to a legal practitioner involved in the matter is Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
