Oriire LG Obas rubbish claim of objection of Oba Ghandi’s visit, say over 100 Obas in support

Traditional rulers in Oriire local government area of Oyo state have dismissed the claim that the Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III is not welcome in Ikoyi-Ile, headquarters of the local government.

The Soun has embarked on townhall meetings across local governments in Ogbomoso zone with visits to Ogbomoso South, Ogbomoso North, Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere local governments already made. The meetings afforded the Oba to discuss his 25-year development plan with the people and to listen to people’s requests as regards developmental issues.

Oba Olaoye is scheduled to visit Oriire local government Tuesday for the meeting at the Oriire local government secretariat in Ikoyi-Ile. However, a group, bearing the name Ikoyi National Descendants Group, has issued a letter addressed to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, urging him to stop Soun from making the visit.

The group emphasized the co-chairman of Oyo State Traditional Council isn’t welcome stressing Ikoyi was not under the suzerainty of Ogbomoso.

In the midst of this alleged opposition meanwhile, traditional rulers in Oriire local government speaking through Onifedegbo of Fedegbo HRM Oba Olaosebikan Gbolagunte Takutanpa l and Onipamo of Elerepamo, High Chief Ayobami Ezekiel Ogunmakinde have said there was nothing like that and that Oba Ghandi was highly welcome.

Speaking on a radio programme monitored Monday morning by ogbomosoinsightonline.com, the traditional rulers noted that the people of Oriire local government area are rather eager for the visit.

“Development is what we desire and that is why we are ready to receive His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III. He is exposed and we believe he could help us with development in Oriire. We have the largest landmass, which makes us ideal to host industries and higher institutions. His coming would thus afford us the opportunity to let him know of our desire and thirst for development.
