Armed robbers and house burglars have come up with a new method to perpetrate their evil acts, ogbomosoinsightonlinw.com has learnt.
Adopting the method, they were able to steal three motorcycles in one night at a section of Oke-Ogbegun community in Ogbomoso North local government last night though effective night guards are said to be providing security in the area.
According to a resident of the area who spoke under the condition of anonymity and whose neighbours’ motorcycles (otherwise known as Okada) were stolen the robbers in the dead of night strolled into the area singing (church) choruses and passionately chanting the name “Jesus.”
“The security guards and residents who were not asleep had no inkling they were there for nefarious activities, what came to our minds including the guards were that they were going to or returning from church vigils which are common especially at weekends. Their decoy worked, even guards who saw them ignored them,” the anonymous resident informed.
“They had made away with two motorcycles already and were on the verge of making away with the third when alarm was raised and we discovered they were the same persons singing choruses. But thank God the third attempt was foiled, they were pursues hotly but they escaped into adjoining forests beyond a river.”
Landlords and residents of the area have now resolved to outlaw movement in the area anything after 10pm up till 5:30am, it was gathered.

“Also, we decided to write churches and mosques in the area to mandate their members to be mindful of this development. We won’t tolerate night movement any longer under the guise of going to religious houses.
“We also warn scrap scavengers (jaribola) to be careful in our area we won’t tolerate their excesses any longer. We plan to make radio announcement on the matter. Some also move indiscriminately saying they are going to ease themselves in the bush we won’t take that again.”
Theft of motorcycles has escalated in recent years with security agents unable to do much to curtail the menace.
