Ogbomoso Jesus Market explained as another market day is fixed for Oct 1

Three months ago, our hearts were stirred by the Lord to intervene in the acute food scarcity challenge confronting the masses in Nigeria, so we initiated a 5-month welfare mission called Jesus’ Market. Things have been biting harder on the masses in the country for a couple of years with ripple effects much felt by the downtrodden.
Jesus’ Market is a monthly trade outlet where we bring together traders selling varieties of food items and very essential household needs to sell at highly subsidised costs, especially to impoverished masses. The subsidy is fully paid by us as God provides. We believe the government cannot do everything. We’re doing this to support whatever the government is doing to alleviate the suffering of the masses.

We are not putting the cost of the subsidy on the church. Some of our brethren at home and in the diaspora have been contributing the resources of funds together. The scheme is driven by the Welfare and Community Impact Departments of True Worshippers Church, Ogbomoso. We have a resolve to trust God to help us do this once every month from August to December 2024 by divine permission.

Imagine a market where a bag of rice sells for 7k lower than the actual cost in the general market! Each kongo of rice, beans, gari, yam flour, corn, millet, lebu etc sells N600 lesser than the costs out there while crates of eggs, other much needed stuff like palm oil, ground nut oil, semovita, yam, pepper, vegetables, fruits, drugs, crayfish, meat, fish, beverages and lots more are made available to the masses at rock-bottom prices.

The market has drawn attention of various media houses in Nigeria, especially as the NTA International reported it on national network news, ditto for NTA Ibadan, BCOS Ajilete, Parrot 101.1, Brave 92.1FM Stations and other major media houses in and outside Ogbomoso. The market majorly hosts low income earners, peasant traders, the aged, students and people from rural areas who have lost much of their harvests to herdsmen assailants. In the videos broadcast by those media houses, you could see Muslims, Christians and people of other religions in their number buying so much. Yoruba, Igbos, Hausas, Egedes and other tribes meet at the market. At Jesus’ Market, no religious, tribal or class sentiments.
The widows, aged and physically-challenged people are always given additional support on each market day.
I must add that directly or indirectly, Jesus’ Market has not been sponsored by any politician or agents of the government at local, state and federal levels. We do not have to bother them, although we will gladly collect it if it comes.

The huge attention and lavish commendation this scheme has garnered within and outside the country were not presumed by us at all while we were starting. We were not seeking attention when we started this. We’re only helping and partnering with the government. It’s not a competition but a commission.
As a way to spice the 64th Independence of Nigeria, the 3rd edition of Ogbomoso Jesus’ Market holds on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 on the playground of True Worshippers Church, Maryland Road, Oke-Aanu, Ogbomoso between 9:00am and 12:00pm.
