Rare attitude! Alaaje joins Muslims in Eid prayer, Christians in Father’s Day celebration

It was a joyous but rare occasion in Aaje Ologo, a suburb of Ogbomoso, Sunday, as the traditional ruler of the community HRH Reuben Adesina Amao Osunbiyi 1 JP, fss, DSS dir rtd, the Alaaje of Aaje, celebrated in person the annual Eid-al-Adha with the Muslim ummah at the community’s eid ground, and led an entourage to the United Baptist Church to celebrate the Father’s Day.

Alaaje is in the forefront of maintaining religious harmony in his domain by identifying with all faiths though a Christian.

“Our monarch Alaaje is a man of peace. He gave the Muslim people land for Eid praying ground and allows all religions to blossom. He supports the church too, as well as the traditionalists,” an indigene of the town, Adebayo Adeleke a.k.a. Ajeodi told ogbomosoinsightonline.com.

In his sermon Chief Imam of Aajeland Sheikh Muhammef Sodiq Tajudeen Alarape harped on the significance of Eid-al-Adha festival urging the congregation to live by the “tenet of obedience, love and sacrifice.”

Imam Alarape also dwelled on unity, fulfillment of promise and seeking for forgiveness.

Heaping praises on Oba Amao and the Aaje chieftaincy family in general for the release of land for the eid ground, central mosque and other supports received, he solicited unity and cooperation with the Baale for rapid development of Aaje. This is as he sought assistance towards the completion of the mosque.

The Alaaje after assisting to slaughter the symbolic festival ram hit the United Baptist Church along with his chiefs and members of Aaje Descendants Progressive Union for the Father’s Day celebration.

Rev Dr Peter Olaniyan in his exhortation congratulated fathers and admonished them neither to forsake God nor shirk their responsibilities. The atmosphere was that of conviviality marked with hearty celebration of fathers in the auditorium and heaping of commendations.

Alaaje speaking with Ogbomoso Insight stressed the importance of religious harmony noting only when members of all religions flow together and in one accord will there be “peace, progress, development and realization of individual goals.”

The Alaaje’s entourage included the Aremole, Balogun, Baba Baale, Iya Baale, Alaga ilu, Iyalode Aaje, Iya Ewe, Jagun of Aajeland, Bobagunwa and Alaga Obinrin Ilu.

Some others were members of Aaje Ologo Women Welfare Commitee under the aegis of Aajeologo Descendants Progressive Union.

Some Muslim clerics at the eid ground were Alfa Lukman Ayilara, Alfa Abdulwahab Moronkunbi and Alfa AbdulHamid Olohungbebe Mogaji.
