Labour Day: Onisapa congratulates workers, urges govt to prioritize their welfare

Onisapa of Isapa in Ogbomoso South local government, Oba Bolarinwa Ezekiel Olajide Olajide I, has joined millions across the world to congratulate workers as they mark the 2024 International Workers’ Day.

Oba Olajide, in a press statement he signed and made available to ogbomosoinsightonline.com, noted, “Nigerian workers have been valuable partners in the Nigerian project and have immensely contributed to her progress and development. Their invaluable contributions over the years demand they be acknowledged always and treated with respect by government and Nigerians in general.”
The Oba also observed, “The workers are really the engine that drives the wheel of Nigeria. Their labour and sweat form the fulcrum that sustains the nation. We must rejoice with them on this occasion.”
He urged government to always recognize the efforts of workers and prioritize their welfare, averring, ”A well cared for worker will be extremely motivated to discharge his or her duty to the best of his competence and abilities and work tirelessly to uplift the country.”

He therefore pleaded with governments at different levels to accord workers the best and avail them with various opportunities, while also enjoining workers “to continue to be resilient and remain hopeful in the face of hardship in the country. I am confident the situation will soon improve.”
He pressed further to advise them on “imbibing good work ethics, exhibiting high level commitment and dedication to duty, and to eschew slothfulness and indolence. That way, God will persistently prosper you.”

Onisapa meanwhile commended the Oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde for what he described as his prioritization of workers’ welfare exemplified by prompt payment of salaries and other benefits workers enjoy..
