Soun offers condolences after death of Olubadan, who reigned for 2 years

Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III Monday mourned the death of Oba (Dr) Lekan Ishola Balogun Alii Okunmade II, a figure who he said dedicated his life to serving his people.

“As a brother monarch, I understand the profound sense of loss that comes with the passing of a revered monarch. The Late Paramount ruler’s dedication to serving his people and his commitment to upholding the traditions and values of his community will be remembered and cherished for generation to come,” the Soun said.
The Soun in a letter signed on his behalf by the Areago of Ogbomosoland High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin, addressed to the head of the deceased’s family and titled, “Condolences on the death of Oba (Dr) Senator Lekan Balogun,” commended his contributions to the development of Ibadanland, asserting, “His contributions to Ibadanland, Oyo state and Nigeria in general has left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those who had the honour of knowing him.”

Oba Olaoye added, “My thoughts and prayers are with you, the entire family, Olubadan-in-Council, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State as well as good people of Oyo State during this difficult time.”
He concluded, “May the memories of Oba (Dr) Senator Olalekan Ishola Balogun Alli Okunmade II bring you comfort and strength as you mourn his loss. With deepest sympathy.”

Soun visited the late Olubadan in December shortly after his coronation during which he affirmed he was born in Ibadan and lived in the city for 27 years noting that Ibadan’s importance and strategic position in Yorubaland made it imperative for him to call on the Ibadan monarch.
Soun lauded Oba Balogun for the prevailing peace in Ibadan under his reign, promising to collaborate with the Olubadan, who died on Thursday, March 14 , 2024.
Late Oba Balogun acknowledged the closeness of Ibadan with Ogbomoso assuring they would work to make it stronger.
