16 months imprisonmemt: Ex-lawmaker Folaranmi regains freedom

Hon Oyebanji Folaranmi has regained freedom after being slammed with a 16-month sentence Thursday following his being found guilty of a four-count charge of conspiracy, false publication, forgery, and threat to murder of an Oko town High Chief and his households as well as conduct likely to cause breach of public  peace.

However, the ex-lawmaker was given an option of a fine of N500, 000.

In view of his posts on his Facebook account – Hon Folaranmi Oyebanji -since Friday, it is evident he has been off the hook implying the Oko-born politician has taken the path of payment of option.

Photos and video footage in his Facebook account also show scenes of celebration indicating return to his Oko home.

A terse message through Facebook messenger to him by ogbomosoinsightonline.com that ‘are you back?” attracted a reply, “yes.”

Further questions were not however replied.

Meanwhile one of his associates who however spoke under condition of anonymity opined, “It is nothing, it is one of the hazards of being a leader with impact. Challenges like that will arise and they will be overcome. And life will continue.”
