Varsity admission: Femi Onireti unveils plans for students

Mr. Olufemi Onireti, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for House of Representatives, Ogbomoso federal constituency in the 2023 general elections, has unveiled plans to assist financially students seeking admission into higher institutions in Ogbomoso zone.

 The two-fold education support programme is being held in conjunction with Ogbomoso Progressive Elite Club (OPEC) and will hold on Sunday March 17 at Ogbomoso High School, starting 12pm, at which beneficiaries will receive their awards.

 

The first category, according to a press statement by the technical team handling the project, comprising Comrade Tojuade Adedoyin, Comrade Dokun Alamu and Mr. Origade Adegbite, encompasses 50 candidates, who successfully scaled the Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination (JAMB) qualifying examinations of the partners, sat for by about 200 applicants. The 50 candidates who have already had JAMB forms purchased for them will be presented their registration slips at the event.

 

The second category consists of financial assistance to seven students who were beneficiaries of the 2023 exercise, and who had now secured admissions into higher institutions.

Giving details the technical team notes in the statement, “The Ogbomoso Progressive Elite Club, together with Honourable Olufemi Onireti, is pleased to announce a dual event scheduled for Sunday, March 17th, 2024.

 

“The event will feature the presentation of the 2024 free JAMB Sponsorship Slips to 50 beneficiaries. These 50 deserving individuals excelled in the qualifying examination held by the Club on January 25, 2024, from a pool of over 200 candidates from the five Local Government Councils in the zone.

 

“Honourable Olufemi Onireti will honour his 2023 commitment to support those who were sponsored for the Free JAMB in 2023 and met the specified criteria, which included attainment of a score of 200 and above in the JAMB Examination and secured admission into a university.

 

“In line with this promise, Honourable Olufemi Onireti will provide FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE to the seven beneficiaries who fulfilled the criteria. These beneficiaries are Oladele Shinaayomi Emmanuel, Ojo Gloria Oluwadamilola, Adegboola Matthew Oluwafemi, Ayorinde Victoria Toluwase, Olatunji Ayanfe Mercy, Oni Victoria Oluwaferanmi and Ajala Roseline Remilekun.

 

“It is heartening to mention that Honourable Olufemi Onireti has committed to supporting these beneficiaries financially throughout the 4- or 5-year duration of their studies.

“Parents of the beneficiaries are encouraged to accompany their children to witness this occasion.”

 

Hon Onireti, CEO of Femi Onireti Foundation has made several laudable contributions to education advancement of students in the past among which are granting of scholarship for university students, quiz competition for secondary school students which attracted bumper prizes, donation of laptops and offer of financial assistance to schools.

 

Though never a political office holder Onireti has donated dozens of boreholes to communities, rehabilitated intracity roads (some provided with culverts), offered monetary assistance to hospital patients and inmates of leprosarium, staged empowerment programmes and provided street lights.

 

He is currently in the United States of America where he is based with his family.
