Police CPL, Alula, bags chieftaincy award of Agbasaga Adulawo today




For his talents in Yoruba traditional drumming and tenacity despite being a dutiful police Corporal, Ambassador Kehinde Aworinde, a.k.a. Alula, will today bag the chieftaincy title of Aare Agbasaga Adulawo (Chief Promoter of Culture, Africa).


In a statement by Joseph Daniel and Gbenga Obalowo, representing the organisers the event will come up December 28, at the Township Hall Eruwa, in Ibarapa region of Oyo state, starting 11am.

17 other persons will be conferred with various other awards.


Kehinde Aworinde Alula International, is a native of Ogbomoso in Oyo state. He attended Abora D.C. School, Ogbomoso and later proceeded to Obaseeku High School, Sanngo, Eruwa.


He obtained his NCE in English/Yoruba at the Best Legacy College of Education, Ogbomoso.


He later joined the Nigeria Police Force and attended the Police Training School, Eleyele, Ibadan for General Duty Police Course.


A renowned and professional drummer and composer, he has uncanny mastery of drums like drum-set, Konga, Omele, Gangan, band-set and so on, which set him apart from his contemporaries.


A former Parent-Teacher Association employed teacher at Owode Community Grammar School, Ogbomoso, he has since joining the police few years ago served in various departments including Police Music Band, Ops, Divisional formation and so on.


Outside the police force, he is the director at Alula Gospel Music And Drum Int’l, and has four albums to his credit including “Ogo Baptist” (The Glory of Baptist) in honour of the former president of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev’d. Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle and who was president of the Nigeria Baptist Convention at the time.


Presently, Alula int’l is the chief taskforce officer of the Association of professional Drummers of Nigeria (APDON).


He is not a stranger to awards as he has a number conferred on him in the past and is married and blessed with children.
