Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu, immediate past (Acting) Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo state, is dead.

He reportedly died in the afternoon of Wednesday, November 28, a little over 70 years, nearly 6 months after he left office.

“Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, has announced the death, this afternoon, of the retired Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu,” a statement issued by the university says.

The statement describes his death as “devastating,” adding, “The University Management already paid a condolence visit to the spouse of the deceased leader.”

He was appointed Acting Vice Chancellor in April 2021, succeeding Prof Michael Ologunde aftermath ceding of the institution to Oyo state by Osun.

The late Professor of Plant Physiology in the Department of Pure and Applied Biology of the University left the position of Acting VC on June 12, 2023, aged 70.

He formerly served as Deputy Vice Chancellor in the same University, before being appointed Acting Vice Chancellor on April 23.

He once worked at the defunct Oyo State College of Arts and Science (OYSCAS), Ile-Ife.
