Admittedly, conflict is normal and difference is a way of life, but there is need for internal mechanism for conflict resolution even after results of litigation. That is exactly the import of Gbenga Oladeji’s article with the above title, if I.get him right. To this I am also making this reminder in the affirmatve as great men think alike. The choice of Oba Ghandi Olaoye is divine and his public outdooring has the backing of the entire Ogbomoso people. Whatmore, the state government has confirmed his enthronement with preparations for his coronation in topgear and will not be aborted by His grace. The court issues are normal, for the late Soun, Jimoh Ajagungbade had court case with a contestant too, yet late Soun Jimoh Ajagungbade reigned. The one raised by the editor to confirm removal of an appointed Soun was before independence, which still to say that nothing is not possible! But the current one requires an internal conflict resolution to bring the Olaoye family together for the peace of Ogbomosoland for there are other issues to be addressed too. The one being the exclusion of some ruling houses like Olukan, Ologolo and others. The elders like Baba Dr Saka Balogun should form the conflict resolution committee to address these issues. I am sure, the result of the appeal at the apex court will nulify the one passed by the high court and confirm and approve Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye’s Obaship of Ogbomoso. But after court there should be settlement to bring the aggrevied onboard to culminate in an inclusive reign by Olaoye family since they all descended from the same ancestors. As a student of history, it is high time the family erased the history of conflicts that characterize their dynasty and bury their personal interests for the sake of Ogbomosoland. The conflict resolution committee to be headed by Baba Dr Saka Balogun, an erudite scholar of history and wide political experience, should encourage the new Soun to embrace the aggrieved and pacify them with promises of inclusiveness and to see his victory as being for all. With this, we are sure that the lasting peace expected will reign.and Ogbomoso will assume her rightful position as a land of valiant and highly developed town.

  1. I cannot agree less with Mr. Olawuyi. The Olaoye ruling family needs to close rank and support HIM, Oba Ghandi Olaoye for the collective interest of Ogbomoso. Olaoye ruling house should go down in history for causing divisions, acrimony and disorderliness in Ogbomosoland.
It is no a gainsaying, Oba Afolabi Olaoye is the choice of Ogbomoso people, both house and abroad. His selection was applauded by all and sundary His subsequent installation was created with jubilation and felicitations all over the world. Therefore nothing should be allowed to reverse the seeming happiness, joy and expectations of the Ogbomoso people over advent of Oba Ghandi in Ogbomoso affairs. He is God ordained.
Judiciary should be alone to forestall normalcy and truce in this matter. All well meaning Ogbomoso leaders need to do an underground settlement, and if need be, appeasement of the aggrieved losers in the process that threw up Oba Ghandi Olaoye as the most preferred candidate.
Long live Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, long live Ogbomoso, long live Oyo State.
