Gov Makinde orders demolition of shanties, kiosks at schools’ premises

Oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde has directed all illegal structures erected around schools’ premises in the state be pulled down forthwith.
Also, worried by the deluge of dirts and refuse dumps taking over the state capital, Ibadan, the governor promised to address the situation.

This is according to a post early Wednesday morning on the X handle of the Oyo State Government, @oyostategovt.
It is stated that the governor gave the order following a visit he personally made to three public secondary schools in Ibadan metropolis Tuesday night.
The schools inspected are Oba Akinbiyi High School, Mokola; St Gabriel’s Secondary Commercial School, Mokola; and Baptist Secondary School, Oke Ado.
It is further gathered that the governor gave only a week of grace to all owners of “kiosks and shanties,” to vacate walls of schools’ fences and lands.

“Last night, Governor Seyi Makinde inspected three schools in Ibadan:
“Oba Akinbiyi High School, Mokola; St Gabriel’s Secondary Commercial School, Mokola; and Baptist Secondary School, Oke Ado.
“After the inspection, His Excellency stated that all kiosks and shanties attached to public school fences and around public school premises should be vacated.
“Governor Makinde further said any structure found after the notice period of one week would be demolished.”
On waste management, it is stareid, “Regarding the waste management architecture, Governor Makinde said the issue of waste on medians and blackspots around the city will be addressed.”
