Chief Imam charges Muslims, Christians, all  to support Ghandi as Soun Ogbomoso

The Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Imam Teliat Yunus Olushina Ayilara has charged the people of Ogbomosiland to support Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomosoland.

In a congratulatory letter personally signed by Imam Ayilara II, dated September 3, and titled, “Press Statement for the Appointment of Prince Afolabi Olaoye as Soun-elect: The Grand Chief Imam congratulates the Soun-Elect, Prince Afolabi Olaoye of Olaoye Ruling House,” he expressed happiness over the emergence of Prince Afolabi Olaoye as Soun-elect, assuring his support on behalf of the Muslims in Ogbomoso.

He wrote, “I am pleased to on behalf of the entire Muslim Ummah of Ogbomosoland congratulate Prince Afolabi Olaoye as Soun-Elect of Ogbomosoland.”

Going ahead to describe the approval of the Soun-elect, fondly called “Prince Ghandi” as beginning of new wave of development in the community he noted this would be built on the achievements of his immediate predecessor Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.

“For nearly five decades we enjoyed an esteemed and distinguished leadership of the land, and for about 20 months now, we have been in dire bereavement as our exalted stool has been vacant. It is indeed a new dawn in Ogbomosoland, a new beginning and a new path to chart the progress of our glorious land.”

Appealing for support for the incoming king, he said, “Hence, I feel elated and hereby enjoin all Ogbomoso indigenes at home and in the diaspora to join hands with our Soun-Elect Prince Afolabi Olaoye in building a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous Ogbomosoland.

“May Almighty Allah bestow upon him, knowledge and wisdom, grant him long life and good health, bless his reign and increase Ogbomosoland in abundance. Amin.”
