LETTER: At last, we are blessed with a new Soun, Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye

The dice is cast, the long awaited time has come and Ogbomosoland that had been in a state of interregnum has now gotten a new king to run the affairs, traditionally, of the ancient city. The choice of Prince Afolabi Ghandi by the Soun kingmakers has been ratified by the governor of the state, Engineer Seyi Makinde, awaiting official coronation at the time that will be stipulated. Amid controversies and mixed feelings prior to his official confirmation and while awaiting the court verdict, the governor has the prerogative to confirm an elected Oba, the right our governor has rightly used in this instance. For the progress of the city and peaceful coexistence, the aggrieved should smoke peace pipe and consider the interest of all by accepting the newly elected Oba. The ancient city had been in the dark for too long and now light has been brought, let us all embrace the light for darkness cannot remove darkness, only light can do that.

With love, we stand to live together in peace and unity, after all, we are all of the same ancestors Ogunlola and other communities’ leaders that make up Ogbomosoland. Let us rally round the newly elected Oba, give him our full support and with time we can settle our grievances and mend our ways. I salute our governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for taking a bold face by doing the needful to approve the new Soun, Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye. By this he has made a record that will make his name to be written with an indelible ink in the annals of Ogbomoso. History will never forget him. To the newly approved Soun, congrats Kabiyesi. May your reign bring prosperity to Ogbomoso indigenes and ushers in unity and peaceful coexistence among other peoples and communities that make up Ogbomosoland. May you be rightly directed by the Lord you serve and the spirits of your forebears. Amen. Long live Ogbomosoland, long live the newly elected Soun, long live people of Ogbomosoland.
