NNL Club Owners Congratulate Gusau on emergence as new NFF boss

The Nigeria National League Club Owners and Managers Association (NALCOMA) has congratulated Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau on his emergence as the new helmsman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and other exco members in the keenly contested poll held at Benin, the Edo state capital on Friday 30th September, 2022.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr. Chidi Okonkwo and Mr. Kunle Oyeleye, NALCOMA president and secretary respectively and obtained by ogbomosoinsightonline.com.
The club owners say that the experience the new helmsman had garnered over the years would be felt posively in his administration.
“It is our joy that an old war horse in the round leather game has emerged from the congress with quality hands that you shall be traveling the roads together.
“We are confident your encyclopedic knowledge of football administration and management with your expertise in public accounting shall be brought to bear to further enroll Nigeria football on the world map.”
While encouraging him to extend olive branch to his co-contestants the body charged him to introduce programmes that would bring development to the NNL.
“We hope you shall see your emergence at the poll as that of ‘no victor no vanquished ’ but a victory for Nigeria football of our dreams.
“As stakeholders in the most important league the National League, we enjoin you to factor in the National League in your programme having been long neglected with her importance to football development.”
It adds, “The journey to make our leagues and national teams models is far but with dedication, hard work and commitment in no distant time you can take us there.”
This is just as NALCOMA calls on all stakeholders “to join the new team to hit the ground running forthwith,” noting that only collective effort could trigger success of football in the country.
“Your kindness and good gestures have stood you out and contributed to your victory, so we are charging you to continue to prove your mettle as a statesman as you assume the new role.
“Therefore, on behalf all teams in the Nigeria National
League, club presidents, managers, executive members and other stakeholders we wish you success in the journey ahead. Congratulations.”
Ibrahim Gusau, a member of the immediate-past Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), emerged Friday as the Federation’s new president, succeeding Amaju Pinnick, who spent eight years in the saddle.
Gusau polled a total of 39 votes to beat other contestants in the race which went into a run-off.
In the first ballot, Gusau scored 21 votes but could not be declared the winner because he did not have 50 percent of the total votes cast, which would have amounted to 22 votes.
In this ballot, former NFF First Vice-President Senior Akinwunmi had 12 votes, while ex-national goalkeeper Peterside Idah polled one vote.
Also, Abba Yola, the Chief of Staff to Youth and Sports Development Minister Sunday Dare, scored one vote while former NFF Second Vice-President Shehu Dikko had six votes.
Other contestants, such as Chris Emeruwa, Amanze Uchegbulam who had a few days ago indicated his withdrawal, and David Doherty did not score any vote.
In the second ballot, after a number of withdrawals, Gusau scored 39 votes to emerge the winner while Peterside scored one vote.
