According to a statement he personally signed, the provision of the boreholes is in fulfilment of the promise he made during the electioneering campaign towards the last council election in Oyo state.
Onireti, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had promised to provide a borehole to each of the wards that returned the highest votes for the PDP in the three local governments of Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire.
PDP won the election and so the three wards that returned the highest votes for the party have had their boreholes i.e. Ibapon (Ogbomoso South); Saja (Ogbomoso North) and Ikoyi-Ile (Oriire). The boreholes were also provided with solar lighting.
The commissioning is expected to be performed by Chief Segun Ogunwuyi, Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.
Mr. Dare Adeleke (chairman, TCTC), the executive chairmen of Ogbomoso South, Ogbomoso North and Oriire local governments as well as other PDP leaders will also grace the occasion.
Onireti stated, “We will not relent in making our own little contributions to the development of our society.
“We value promise and its fulfilment, and that is why we have provided these boreholes to fulfill the promise we made during the electioneering campaign of the local government election last May.
“We promise to do more, not to gain political advantage but in accordance with our conviction of giving back to the society. It is something we have been involved in before joining partisan politics. The little we do no matter how small will bring relief to some people no matter how few and make them happy.”
