“We want to express gratitude to our people in Ogbomoso and environs for their bold and laudable stand during the period of struggle against the excesses of IBEDC in the city. The people stood with us and this served to further embolden us.
“We also want to thank our leaders such as Justice Adeniran Afolabi rtd., president of Ogbomoso Parapo Worldwide; Gen. Oladayo Popoola, leader of Ogbomoso Community Foundation (OCF); Dr. Saka Balogun, former president of OCF; traditional rulers especially Aale of Okelerin, Oba Samuel Babatunde Amao; Comrade T.M. Balogun, a leader of Ogbomoso Parapo Worldwide; Ambassador Akin Oyateru; maximum demand customers of IBEDC; community leaders, religious leaders of both Christian and Muslim faiths; we appreciate everyone of them and others too numerous to mention.”
However, we want to call on our people not to relent in their efforts, noting, “the struggle is just beginning, we need to constantly monitor the situation so that IBEDC will not return to its vomit. We want them to continuously stand for what is right by standing by the decisions we made together with the IBEDC.”
The group reminded the people of the monthly meeting of stakeholders that will involve IBEDC officials, “the meeting will hold every last Wednesday of the month, it will have as participants community leaders, heads of associations and IBEDC officials at Oja’Igbo by 9am. We want them to be faithful to the meeting so IBEDC would be held accountable.”
Meanwhile, OCYF urges IBEDC customers to ensure prompt payment of their bills “so IBEDC can continue to serve them better.”
It will be recalled that OCYF had been locked in a battle with IBEDC over what was described as the electricity company’s oppressive tendencies against the people of the city.
