A group of six kidnappers were prevented this afternoon from kidnapping a man in the town identified simply as Babanifa.
According to information reaching ogbomosoinsightonline.com, the bandits stormed the town which is the headquarters of Ogo-Oluwa local government area , at about 1:30, shooting sporadically to scare people away.
However, some gallant men came out to face off with them thereby foiling the attempt.
In the process, some of the hoodlums were apprehended by the people of the ancient town.
Meanwhile, people are presently bewildered over the conduct of the police at Ajaawa Divisional Police Office as the overpowered suspected bandits were said to have headed towards the police station in their bid to escape.
“More bewildering” according to a source in Ajaawa who did not want to be named “is that the suspects apprehended and handed over to the police were shortly after taken away by policemen from the nearby Opete Divisional Police Office.
“People wanted them interrogated on first impulse but the Opete policemen insisted they would handle the matter and drove away quickly.’
With this development the people of Ajaawa are said to be beginning to suspect policemen in the area as being complicit in the increasing waves of kidnapping in the area and that ‘they are giving the criminals cover.”
It would be recalled that in the last one and a half months two separate Kidnap incidents had been reported in the town, the first involving a family of nine who regained freedom only after they allegedly paid a ransom of N4.8 million. The second victim, a butcher and son of Chief Imam of Ajaawa, lost his life and his decomposing remains were only found after 5 days.”
The happenings caused the town to observed 3 days prayer and fasting last week.
