First-pan Ogbomoso Security Summit holds today
In the light of the general insecurity situation confronting the country Ogbomoso Parapo and affiliated associations in Ogbomoso zone are holding a security summit at Ogbomoso Recreation Club, Isale-General.
The event well attended by prominent Ogbomoso indigenes including Justice Afolabi Adeniran (retd), president, Ogbomoso Parapo Worldwide; Chief Sunday Dare, General Dayo Popoola (retd), Minister for Youths and Sports: Dr. Saka Balogun, Ambassador Akin Oyateru; Brigadier General Brimmo Yusuf (retd), a former senator; Ambassador Peter Oyedele as well as many traditional rulers.
Presenting a brief on security situation in the zone Amb Akin Oyateru noted that security situation had degenerated calling for concerted efforts to curb the anomaly.
This was also echoed by Prof Alex Gboyega who delivered the keynote address, admitting that Ogbomoso zone is already suffering from Fulani hersdmen menace.
Oyateru also lamented the prevailent intellectual fraud known as yahoo yahoo in the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso as well as cultism which he said had permeated secondary schools in the zone, urging the authorities concerned to address the situation so that the name of the institution would not be further soiled.
Dr Jide Ladipo, a retired deputy director at International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (OITA), Ibadan, spoke on the topic, ”Our forest and natural resources base in the present state of insecurity and climate in Ogbomosoland,”
He regretted that climate change and human activities have done a great damage to our flora population in Ogbomoso urging the populace to start planting trees for its many benefits.
Some of the affiliated associations that worked with Ogbomoso Parapo to stage the summit are Ogbomoso Community Foundation, Ogbomoso Descendants Development Association, Ogbomoso Progressive Club of Friends, Ogbomoso Development Forum, Ogbomoso Valiant Club and Ogbomoso Ajilete Group.
Others are Ogbomoso First Club, Ogbomoso Pivotal Club, Ogbomoso Ajisegiri Club, Ogbomoso Socialite Club, Ogbomoso Frontliners Club and Ogbomoso Development Association.
A communique is expected to be issued after the summit.
