Over 2,000 indigenes of Oyo state and beyond are beneficiaries of the free medical programme held last weekend at the palace of Ijeru.
The medical service facilitated by the Onpetu of Ijeru Kingdom, HRM Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran, Lagbami Osekun 111, had as partner, Ogbomoso South local government, under the caretaker chairmanship of Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy and was driven by an organization, ‘Creating Healthy Community Kinship (CHECK) Medical Mission.’
Hon Oyedokun making a speech at the opening ceremony described Oba Oyediran as a blessing to the council area.
The thousands who thronged the occasion were also lectured on healthy living by a representative of CHECK Medical Mission during the opening ceremony.
The programme featured doctors’ consultations, laboratories’ tests, deworming of children, eyes tests and giving of free eye glasses, dental surgeries, harvests of hernia, cleft lip/palate surgeries, general surgeries etc with the hernia surgeries held at the Adebayo Alata Primary Health Centre at Ahoyaya, Over 40 volunteers helped to execute the programme.
One of the beneficiaries, Alhaja Simbii Kolawe, who came from Kwara state, appreciated Oba Oyediran for his kind gesture, noting that “if the society could be blessed with people like the royal father this planet would become a paradise.”
Another beneficiary who was given a brand new wheel chair could not hide her joy as she beamed with smile continuously enthusing she would now bid farewell to crawling.
Oba Oyediran remarked that with his Queen, Olori Esther Subuola Oyediran, they were committed to helping the less-privileged in the society, assuring that this is just the beginning, “more are still on the way.”
