The caretaker chairman of Ogbomoso South local government, Hon Oyedokun Niyi Timothy, has described Oyo state governor, Engr. Makinde, as one of a kind person.
The council boss made this submission during a chat with The Insight at the flag off of a two-day free medical service at the palace of Onpetu of Ijeru, Oba Sunday Oyediran.
The council boss was asked to assess Governor Makinde when he said, “He is one of a kind, I wouldn’t want to talk like one that is working under him, I would want to talk like one who is seeing the things he is doing.
“Oyo state has never had someone like him before, someone who is passionate about the people, someone who wants the development of the people, someone who cares less about what he is going to make but what the people will get, he is just a man of the people and for those of us working under him we can’t do anything less, we have to follow his marks and deliver on the dividends of democracy.”
Makinde yesterday mingled with protesters in Ibadan persuading them to drop their intent on destruction, at a great risk to his life, Oyedokun was asked. “Were you not scared that the governor could be attacked?” but he responded, “No, we can’t be attacked because the protesters themselves are peace-loving people because whatever they are fighting for is a legal right, but it is unfortunate some hoodlums took over, even within our vicinity we have been trying to talk to people, trying to educate them to let them know that whatever you destroy it is going to affect you as individuals. We are actually talking with them and I believe they are listening.
He was asked to highlight some of his activities since coming on board as chairman about a year ago, and he stated that his administration had done a lot with his mark in different sectors.
“There is a lot we have been doing, we have been able to touch the agricultural aspect, we have been able to touch the health sector, we have also been able to touch most of our roads, we have patched quite a number of roads, we have done a lot of grading, we have done a lot of dredging of rivers that were giving people sleepless nights whenever it rains, most importantly, we have been trying to reach out to farmers, like we shared free fertilizers to farmers in the local government and health wise, we have been trying to renovate some of our primary healthcare centres and also equip them because what we met on ground was a great decay, so, we are gradually trying to do a lot of things to ease the pains of the people.”
