Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Southwest Branch, Ibadan gets new exco

New executive officers have emerged to run the affairs of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) South West Branch, with headquarters located in Ibadan, Nigeria.
The new exco emerged following an election held on May 6, 2023, at the TPL Dosu Babatunde Foundation Building, The Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State and the newly elected members were immediately sworn-in.
Engr. Olasunkanmi Folasayo Babatunde emerged the new chairman after a keenly contested election.
Other elected members are Dr. Ayobami Ademola Akanmu (vice chairman), Mr Umar Obafemi Salisu (general secretary), Mr Waliu D. Adeyanju (financial secretary), Mr. Ayodele Olanitori (public relations officer) and Engr. Mrs. K. O. Adeoye (welfare officer).
Mr. Samson Oluwaseun Ojedapo (assistant secretary), Mr. Oluwabunmi Oluwalana (assistant financial secretary) and Mr. Oluwafemi Kelani (assistant public relations officer) were also part of the newly elected officers.
The event was witnessed by some former exco members and topnotch individuals in the industry such as Prof Bambo Somuyiwa (immediate past chairman), Prof Soji Adesanya (NISER), Major R.O.A Salawu, Dr Engr. Philip Fasanmade, Engr. Tunde Ayangbesan, Tpl Labi Agboola, Dr. (Mrs.) Omolola Gegeleso and Dr (Mrs.) Kemi Ogbonna.
Also at the event were Mr. Kehinde A. Adeniji, Mrs. Omole Ebuw Erims, Mr. Raji Abayomi Saliu, Dr. Duro Ogunsesan, Mr Femi Adetunji, Mr. Ifedayo Omolewa and Mr. Tomiwa Ebenezer Obadire.
CILT is the leading international professional body for all sectors of the transport and logistics industry comprising professionals, academics and other stakeholders in transport and logistics sector.
Founded in the United Kingdom in 1919 and granted a Royal Charter on the 26 th of November, 1926, the CILT was established to “promote knowledge of the science and art of logistics and transport and to provide a source of authoritative views for communication to government, industry and the community at large.”
Its membership of over 33, 000 spans the globe, in over 100 countries, offering significant benefits to all its members, as well as a complete suite of educational courses internationally.
Meanwhile CILT Nigeria was founded in 1958 operating under the Royal Charter as International Branch and now as a territory.
The new chairman, Engr Babatunde who is currently, the Director of Transport Operations, Ministry of Pubic Works and Transport in Oyo state, joined the organization in 2012, and attended an international conference in the field in 2014 in Malaysia.
He stated while speaking with insightonline.com that he would lead the team with a sense of mission and with eye on innovative accomplishment, while soliciting the cooperation of all.
He said membership is open to every stakeholder in transport and logistics business whether in air, maritime, road, rail, pipeline or academics.
