LETTER: Police Secondary School Odanbon: For the attention of Senator Yunus Akintunde

The Police Secondary School, Odanbon, near Ogbomoso, in Surulere local government area of Oyo state, is a project that’s important to the people of Ogbomoso generally because of the strategic relevance it holds in the development of the zone. Employment opportunities, having a quality school close by and its economic prospects are some of the benefits envisaged will accrue if it finally comes alive.

From a piece l read in ogbomosoinsightonline.com this evening the school was approved and got launched in November 2016, however, nothing has been heard again aside the construction of perimeter fence and gate house on the 100-acre land it is to sit on.

But to.learn that the project is being held in abeyance because of non procurement of survey plan is a surprising laxity if what l read is anything to.go by.
I implore Ogbomoso Parapo the umbrella association of clubs in Ogbomoso to live up to its billing in this regard. The body needs to get that accomplished after all its cost is less than N2m. The association has achieved greater things than that. We hope the issue of survey plan will soon be a thing of the past.
More than that there is need to network to get the school really off the ground. Fortunately, the senator representing Oyo Central senatorial district, where Odanbon i.e. Surulere local government belongs, Senator Yunus Abiodun Akintunde, is the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs.
His contribution is highly germane in this regard, especially getting budgetary allocation for the project. I learnt the Police Secondary Schools approved for Odo-Otin and Ota in Osun and Ogun states respectively are captured in the 2024 budget of the federal government.
Senator Akintunde whom l believe is a nice man judging by his mien and is a goal getter should be reached out to on the matter. It is a project within his constituency and it is pertinent he rises to the occasion. He should be implored (or stir himself) to take the matter up to get budgetary allocation for construction of buildings.and getting the school flagged off.
If accomplished it will be to his credit and will enhance his credibility and visibility in the council area and Ogbomoso at large.
On a final note, Senator Yunus Akintunde, take up the gauntlet and help facilitate the commencement of academic activities at Police Secondary School, Odanbon, Surulere local government.
