LAUTECH to have Sunday Adewusi Centre for Police Studies

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Oyo state, is to establish a Centre for Police Studies to be named after Chief Sunday Adewusi GCON, the late Inspector General of Police (1981 – 1983).

This was disclosed Saturday by the Vice Chancellor of the institution Prof ROM Kalilu, at the fourth bi-ennial memorial lecture of Chief Adewusi organzed by the Ogbomoso Community Foundation (OCF) held at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club.
Many respondents after the lecture by Prof Oyesoji Aremu on the topic, ”Failure of internal security: Dissecting the historical and systemic dysfunctionality of the Nigeria Police Force,” have called for immortalizing of the late Asiwaju of Ogbomosoland for his roles in enhancing the police force in Nigeria.
Reacting to the call, Professor Rom Kalilu, stated that there was a proposal on that and would be critically considered towards getting it established.
“On immortalizing Chief Sunday Adewusi, we are looking at establishing the Centre for Police Studies. We will see what we can do about that.”
The guest lecturer Prof Aremu applauded the proposal saying, “I support the current Vice Chancellor on the establishment of Sunday Adewusi Centre for Police Studies at LAUTECH. You can count on me, l will come and work for you.”

Rear Admiral Jacob Ajani (rtd) the special guest of honour meanwhile observed that the centre rather than being Centre for Police Studies should be enlarged to be Centre for Security Studies “so other security agencies can avail themselves of the centre.’
Among the guests at the event is Prof Ayodeji Omole, the chairman of the governing council, LAUTECH, with many hopeful the move will be sanctioned by the council.
