BREAKING: Fire outbreak at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, patients rushed out

Fire has gutted the Emergency and Accident Unit of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LTH), Ogbomoso, Oyo state, early Saturday morning leading to the burning of office equipment and academic books.
According to information reaching ogbomosoinsightonline.com the fire outbreak started at about 5am in a paedriatrics consultant office with the fire suspected to have started from electric spark.

The fire destroyed the office burning the roof and ceiling just as many academic research books, laptops, furniture and many other valuables were despoiled.
“The loss is in hundreds of millions of naira,” a staff member who spoke on condition of anonymity told ogbomosoinsightonline.com.

“Patients numbering about 16 had to be quickly rushed out of the ward. Some of them were on oxygen but they escaped danger.”
Staff rallied to put out the fire before fire brigade officers arrived to finally extinguish the fire.”
When contacted the PRO of the hospital Ogunleye Omotayo confirming the incident however said “everything had been brought under control. There is no cause for alarm.”

Ogunleye informed that men of the electrical department of the hospital are strenuously working to restore electricity to the section adding that normal activities have returned.
