The name Aaje – Ikose, which past generations and many older people in Ogbomoso and environs recognized as describing the twin communities of Aaje and Ikose situated at the fringe of Ogbomoso North local government of Oyo state, has now been rested for a new descriptive name – Aaje-Ologo.
This new identity became official following the Certificate of Society/Club/Association Registration presented to the community by the chairman of Ogbomoso North local government Hon George Ogunlade recently at the council secretariat, Kinnira.

Receiving the certificate on behalf of the community, the traditional ruler of the town, HRH Oba Reuben Adesina Amao Osunbiyi Amao I, Alaaje of Aajeland Aaje-Ologo expressed appreciation to government for considering their request which he said was long overdue.
Oba Amao a retired Director of Department of State Service (DSS) heaped encomiums on Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde stressing his numerous developmental accomplishments are changing the narratives in the state.
Alaaje similarly thanked the governor for supporting Hon. Ogunlade to emerge as chairman asserting “Hon Ogunlade has what it takes to lead the council area to greater heights.”
The monarch to further demonstrate his goodwill conferred an honorary award of humanitarian service on the council boss affirming the overwhelming support he received during the last local government election was an affirmation of the people’s belief in his ability.

In a chat with ogbomosoinsightonline.com, Alaaje said, “Aaje Ologo community loves the chairman, that is why we voted massively for him during the last council election. We are confident he will perform creditably well. He has the competence and experience. Moreover, his principal His Excellency Governor Makinde has been performing well, and so, he has someone to look up to and emulate.”
In the meantime the royal father appealed to the government at state and local government levels to put the community in the priority list of provision of “essential amenities such as good roads, schools, and security to enhance development in the community.”
Responding, the chairman congratulated the monarch and the entire community on obtaining the registration certificate, while promising “to continue to work tirelessly for the progress of Aje-Ologo Community.”
Oba Amao told ogbomosoinsightonline.com that its sister community Ikose is an offshoot of Aaje having been established by the people of Ikose, further away from their ancestral home by the main road along Ikoyi town. “However, Ikose was later created a chiefdom with a Baale, titled, Baale Ikose or Onikose, who began to exercise suzerainty over Aaje the original settlement. This became unbearable because there was widespread encroachment on our lands and so, we sought a separate identity or independence which was approved few years ago with the creation of Aaje chiefdom by the Oyo state government and approval for a traditional ruler. By the grace of God I championed the cause along with our people under the banner Aaje Descendants Progressive Union, ADPU.”

He recalled the community faced a lot of challenges and opposition in the struggle to attain the feat but “we persevered.”
The security expert further disclosed that the name Aaje-Ikose evolved when vehicles plying the route from Ogbomoso to Aaje enroute Ikose used to call out, “Aaje-Ikose,” asserting that was the origin of Aaje-Ikose. “But Ikose is an integral part of Aaje being its extension, founded by the people of Aaje.”
“But we now have a new vision and mission, we want Aaje to grow in glory and transform into a vibrant community unencumbered by anything, that is why we adopted the name Aaje-Ologo to reflect our new consciousness. The presentation of Certificate of registration is dream come true for us,” he enthused.
