“Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde has graciously approved the appointment of 7000 teaching staff and 3000 Non- teaching staff to the teaching service of Oyo State,” a circular to Tutors-General/Heads of Zones of Oyo State Post Primary School Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), obtained by ogbomosoinsightonlinem.com states.

On the modality for the appointment of the guards, who preferably are to be professional hunters for efficiency, the circular further informs, “Out of the Non- teaching staff will be school guards, principals are to screen 5 able bodied men from their school environment to apply for the job of school guards when the portal is open on Monday 24th June 2024 in which some of them will be appointed for each of the school that presented them.”

In the same vein, it’s been disclosed that 5000 teaching staff will be recruited into primary schools by SUBEB.

For employment into the teaching cadre in both primary and secondary schools the recruitment portal will soon be opened, it is revealed, for prospective applicants to register.

However, an applicant can put in for only one stream either primary or secondary school, otherwise the application will be nullified as only a recruitment firm will handle both.

Assurance is given nevertheless that the employment will be merit-based. “His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is a stickler for merit, this was the yardstick in 2021 when 5000 teachers were recruited and feedbacks from schools indicated those employed in 2021 are competent. This employment will also be competitive, it will be merit-based so that only highly competent candidates will be absorbed,” another source informed.

Candidates will begin the process with CBT assessment with questions based on their individual’s area of specialization with some English and mathematics questions.

It is emphasized the recruitment portal for each of the cadres will soon be opened and so prospective candidates are urged to be on the look out.

It is meanwhile learnt that the number of applications will be limited so as not to excessively exceed the target number of recruitment in order not to make the screening cumbersome which will happen if the number of applicants is uncontrolled.

“In 2021, about 90, 000 applications were completed, when the available vacancies were 5,000. That created a lot of inconveniences and stress while trying to screen the candidates. So, this time around the moment a proportionate number of applications is reached the portal will be shut down. It is therefore imperative applicants complete the registration in earnest,” the source added.
