For the attention of:

2. Chief Sunday Dare (immediate past Minister for Youth and Sports Development)

Dear compatriots,
I am using this medium to bring to your notice, our esteemed compatriots, that the new Ibadan-Oyo-Ogbomoso-Ilorin 150km highway, which has been under construction for over 22 years remains just about 5km to complete. Incidentally, the remaining stretch falls within Ogbomoso axis, from Arinkinkin area (after Agric towards Ogbomoso) to Federal Government College flyover, where it intersects Ikoyi road. It gladdens the heart that all other parts – Ibadan – Oyo; Oyo – Ogbomoso (Arinkinkin); Ogbomoso (FGC flyover) – Ilorin, have been completed and mostly open for traffic. It’s a big relief that journeying through those parts have become less cumbersome and less risky compared to doing same on the old road.

It was shocking and heart-rending meanwhile when the contractor handling Ogbomoso – Oyo section, Reynolds Construction Company (RCC), abandoned the site recently owing to exhaustion of funds allocated for the project by the Federal Government. It’s saddening because the section remains just about 5km stretch to round off including flyovers and some other features.

Many have perished travelling via the old road because of its hazardous nature – dilapidated, numerous sharp bends, craters and potholes, ubiquity of articulated vehicles (trailers), narrowness, single lane heightening risk of head on collisions and so on, which intermittently precipitates road crashes in the face of reckless driving. The new four lane highway provides much better alternative therefore.
Getting the 5km stretch finished i.e. Arinkinkin – Ajegunle/The Apostolic Church Grammar School to Samaday to Federal Lowcost/Adeniran Memorial Grammar School to Orisun Iye Baptist Church/Olomi to Federal Government College), is therefore a task greatly anticipated. Its completion will be tantamount to excising a big irksome boil from the buttock.

In view of this, I implore esteemed figures such as Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Chief Sunday Dare, Dr. Fatai Buhari, Hon Lamiju Alao-Akala, Hon Sunday Makanjuola, and other influential individuals within President Bola Tinubu’s administration, to utilize their authority to secure funding for the completion of this vital project. The individual who successfully accomplishes this task will be lauded, akin to a skilled surgeon excising a persistent boil. Furthermore, this achievement will be likened to Alexander the Great’s legendary act of unraveling the Gordian Knot in Gordium, Phrygia, ensuring his enduring legacy. Undoubtedly, the road has become as complex as the Gordian Knot itself.
This specific roadway holds significance for the prosperity of Ogbomoso and the entirety of Nigeria. Its successful construction will facilitate smoother and safer transportation for individuals traveling along its route.
Thank you dear good leaders. God bless.
