After several hours of deliberations by the tripartite committee negotiating the new minimum wage, the Federal Government has offered to pay workers N62,000.
Labour team comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC, also beat down their demand to N250,000.
The development comes after recent speculations that the government might have settled for N105,000 which was however debunked by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Stakeholders in the tripartite committee came to this compromise on Friday, barely few hours after the Nigerian Governors Forum rejected the possibility of paying N60,000 as minimum wage because it would hinder them from executing other capital projects.

It is not clear whether the new offer by the government would lay talks on the new minimum wage to rest.
