‘Garrison Commander’ Kolero aged 51 dies in Ogbomoso

A political ‘garrison commander’ in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, popularly known as Kolero is dead. He died aged 51, according to sources close to him.
Kolero whose first name is Lamidi reportedly slumped Friday morning at his personal residence at Onire area while going to the toilet. He was taken quickly to a hospital but was “brought in dead,” a source at the hospital told ogbomosoinsightonline.com.

He was a politician who belonged to the ‘armed’ wing of political parties because of his uncompromising and tough disposition and was close to political heavy weights such as late Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala.

He was at a time a pick up van driver transporting goods to villages but he had long abandoned that line of career to become a politician and his commanding position made him an interface between ‘street boys’ and political bigwigs.

He also at a time was an Egungun initiate bearing the dreadful mask.
From Atufata compound in Ita-Alasa he was said to have earned the nickname “Kolero” in his younger days because of his proclivity to warning albeit jovially to strike down people who are thorn in his flesh with charms that had no remedy.
A charismatic leader in his own right, he had many followers and admirers.

He has since been buried Friday morning and is survived by wives and children.
