Ogbomoso erupts in joy as Oba Laoye Orumogege III makes grand entry into palace

Ecstasy of joy has enveloped the ancient city of Ogbomoso, Oyo state as the new monarch, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III installed new Soun last week, few minutes ago, made a grand entry amid unabated cheers into the palace to begin his reign.

The royal parade started at Ogbomoso High School area at the southern end of the city with many jubilant citizens lining the road hailing and cheering the new Oba, who responded by waving the traditional horsetail.

“It is being long Ogbomoso witnessed such aggregation of people. This is an indication that he is acceptable to a wide spectrum of the people,” said Mr. Jamiu Salahudeen Ayinde while speaking with ogbomosoinsightonline.com.

The Kabiyesi entered tinto the Abata section to complete the final rites. The five Mogajis of the Soun ruling houses – Olaoye, Bolanta, Odunaro, Aburumaku and Gbagun and traditional chiefs also lined the path taken by the Kabiyesi to access the Abata.

In his entourage are community leaders including Gen Oladayo Popoola (rtd), Professor Adesola Adepoju and several others.

Jubilant crowds have continued to mill in the palace ground with hunters continuously piercing the atmosphere with gunshots just as drummers entertain people with their sonorous praise singing.

 

Chief (Dr) Lere Paimo Eda Onileola, who is is Arobajo of Ogbomosoland speaking with newsmen also expressed joy, “I am extremely happy today witnessing this historic event.”

The Kabiyesi has now emerged from the Abata and is entering the palace court for the next phase which is interdenominational service.
