Aresa Iresapa Ogbomoso soaks up glamour as fed schools in domain hold milepost events
Femi OGUNLANA
Aresa of Iresa Pupa in Surulere local government area of Ogbomoso zone of Oyo state, Oba Moses Olayiwola Ajiboye III JP is a monarch of simplicity and unassuming in disposition. Royalty doesn’t give him airs. He is a pleasant jolly man, sincere, unpretentious and focussed. The ancient glory of his town though conscious of it is never something that drives him to unsavoury contentions.
Oba Olayiwola Ajiboye III told ogbomosoinsightonline.com in 2021 that he had no issue with the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III saying “When Soun celebrates important milestones l wish him well. We have a cordial relationship.”
This encapsulates the principle and tenet by which he lives and reigns. And very possibly it explains reason his domain is witnessing tremendous growth and development. He is over 30 years on the throne of his fathers.
Iresapa under him now boasts two important federal institutions though one on a temporary basis, these are the Nigerian Navy Secondary School and a Federal Polytechnic, which has its permanent site at Ayede in the neighbouring Ogo-Oluwa local government.
Even after the polytechnic relocates to its permanent site the Iresapa site will never be idle – that is as certain as the Northern star.

The two institutions have catapulted Iresapa, a twin town to the nearby Iresa Dudu (Iresaadu), which is headquarters of Surulere local government, into national prominence and an enviable space in the world map of education citadels.
It pays to be friendly and receptive and humble. Good things and what we call good luck usually find those who have such attributes accompanied by glory and glamour.
The last one week or so has seen Oba Olayiwola Ajiboye III savouring and soaking up the glory, glamour and grandeur elicited by landmark ceremonies staged by the two institutions in his community, which is a distinct confluence of roads linking Ogbomoso, Osogbo, Iresaadu/Ikirun and Oko/Ejigbo.
First was the Federal Polytechnic Ayede which held its inaugural matriculation ceremony for its 211 pioneer students on August 4 at its Iresapa temporary campus.
One of the exhilarating episodes of the memorable and historic event attended by many eggheads was the immense honour accorded Aresa of Iresapa Oba Moses Olayiwola Ajiboye III.
The monarch was showered with encomiums at the event, he was a major attraction, a cynosure of eyes. As he made his grand entry with his chiefs in tow the whole congregation including the students rose and roared with an infectious applause, “Kaaa-bi(y)esi-i-i.”
The anchor of the programme Mr. Sunday Adepoju Public Relations Officer of the institution spectacularly hyped the Oba that no sane being would desire greater honour. The traditional ruler had paid his dues in the development of the polytechnic as it was disclosed he had already attracted or facilitated nothing less than five monumental projects contributing to making the institution run more unencumbered and seamlessly.
The monarch’s brief speech reflected his joy; he congratulated the management, students, the august guests and all those that had worked for the school’s takeoff in record time. It was his day of glory.
Saturday August 12 was the turn of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School as it held its sixth graduation/pull out ceremony.
The monarch was likewise heaped with adoration and praise which tells of the high regard with which he is held.
His social media posts to commemorate the two events will better depict the moments.
On Saturday in his Facebook wall the Oba posted:
“I want to congratulate the pioneer students of Federal Polytechnic Ayede who got matriculated yesterday at the temporary site of the institution in Iresa-pupa. It is my prayers that God will grant them all round success in their studies and make them finish well.
“Likewise, I want to commend the relentless efforts of the Principal officers of the institution. Right from the Rector; Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE), The Registrar and others. This is the evidence of their diligent works. May God continue to strengthen you and grant your heart desires upon the school.
“I will like to appreciate the special dignitaries who took out time to witness the occasion. Ranging from; The Permanent Sectary, Federal Ministry of Education – Mr Andrew Adejo, represented by Mallam Bala Adamu; Rector- Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr Kamoru Kadiri; Provost of Federal College of Education, Iwo – Prof. Rafiu Adebayo, many Principal officers of institutions, eminent personalities, lecturers of the institution, my chiefs from nooks and crannies of Aresa-pupa kingdom, parents/guardians, community members and well wishers. May God bless you all.”
Then, on Saturday August 12 he wrote in his Facebook account “Hrm Oba Moses Olayiwola”: “It was a celebration galore today at the 6th Graduation Ceremony and Pulling out Parade of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School Iresa-pupa, Ogbomoso, Oyo State. I thank God for His faithfulness over this citadel of learning; the management, the students and the parents.
“It is my prayer that God Almighty will continue to uphold the school and grant all the graduands good success in their next phase of lives and chosen careers in Jesus name.”
You will further see his free-mindedness in the way he describes his town in this second post – “…Nigerian Navy Secondary School Iresa-pupa, Ogbomoso, Oyo State…” which indicates no primordial superiority sentiment is harboured in his mind recess. He is truly an epitome of peaceful co-existence and staunch believer in “What is is is.”
Long live Kabiyesi Oba Moses Olayiwola Ajiboye III Areas of Iresapupa!
