Passport office Ogbomoso: Mansur Ejide heads building committee

Alhaji Mansur Ejide Lamidi has been appointed to head the Joint Building Committee for the proposed passport office allocated to Ogbomoso by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
This is as the sod turning ceremony for the proposed building will take place on Friday July 21 along Ogbomoso-Ilorin highway.
The passport office was approved in 2022 on the condition that the community would be responsible for the building of the office based on approved model.
But while other communities like Oyo and Ilesha (Osun state) which got the approval at about the same time had completed their own Ogbomoso’s is yet to get off the ground. The issue of land first created lacuna then funding.

Few weeks ago the comprotoller of NIS Oyo state area command M.T. Umar visited the site on inspection to assess the level of work. He also inspected an alternative site, an abandoned women training centre also along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin highway as the site acquired, facilitated by Senator Ayoade Adeseun.
The NIS state boss had stated then that the technical committee of the establishment would decide on the site to use.
Meanwhile to hasten and generally supervise the construction project of the new building a committee has been set up by the chairman of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaaye, Justice Afolabi Adeniran (rtd).
A release signed by secretary of the socio-cultural organization, Chief Okesanya Akintunde, dated July 15, states, “I write on the directive of the National President Hon. Justice Afolabi Adeniran (Rtd) of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye, has approved the formation of the “Joint Building Committee” for the construction of the Proposed Passport Office in Ogbomoso; Alhaji Mosuru Ejide (Chairman), High Chief Okesanya Akintunde (Gen. Secretary), Alhaji Bukola Badmus (Treasurer), Comrade T. M. Balogun (PRO), Prince Olude Aderemi (Chairman Home Zone) and Mr Adekunle Adebisi (Youth Leader/Rep).”

The committee also has as members representatives of some clubs and associations including Ogbomoso Community Foundation (OCF), Ogbomosoland Consultative Council (OCC), Ogbomoso Descendants Development Association (ODDA) and O’First Group.
“In addition, the laying of the foundation of the Ogbomoso Passport Office will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 by 11 :00 am at the proposed site situated at Pakiotan Family Land along Ogbomoso to llorin new express Road, Ogbomoso, and the programme will be witnessed by the State Commandant of the Nigeria lmmigration Service.”
