In order to maintain a balance between dissolving the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and conserving resources, the Oyo state government has come up with a strategy which involves redeploying elected vice chairmen to oversee affairs at the LCDAs.
Where there are more than one LCDAs in a council area secretaries will be redeployed.
The redeployed vice chairmen and secretaries will be designated Political Heads/Administrators.
This was confirmed at the councils by ogbomosoinsightonline.com this morning.
Also, on his Facebook wall this morning, the chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, Hon Akanji Kabir Ayoade posted, “In adherence to the directive of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, with respect to the new operations of local governments and local council development areas, as approved by the Executive Governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde, l appoint Hon Mrs. Aremu Adijat, the Administrator/Political Head of Ogbomoso North Local Development Council Area.
“We wish her the best in her new capacity as Administrator of Ogbomoso North LCDA.”
It is obvious from this post that the chairmen were delegated the authorities to validate the appointments perhaps to maintain a cordial working relationship by emphasizing who is boss.
It would be recalled that the former administration headed by now late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, created 35 LCDAs across the state which were headed by interim chairmen until he conducted council elections at the twilight of his tenure.
The first one and a half years of Governor Seyi Makinde also saw interim chairmen appointed to manage the councils.
The incumbent governor however decided against holding elections into the LCDAs when council elections were held last May with many speculating how the development areas would be administered with many even suggesting the LCDAs would be sacked.
With this development, the question of the administration and fate of the LCDAs has now been put to rest.
