There was a mild drama yesterday evening at a funeral party at Methodist Basic School, Arowomole, Ogbomoso, when a young man heavily laced with charms including bante (juju apron), amulets, monlu (beat-me-not charm), ifunpa (bicep metaphysical tie) etc was sighted breezing into the venue at about 5’0 clock.
“When he made his appearance we all ran from him because we didn’t know his mission,” an eyewitness told ogbomosoinsightonline.com.
Continuing, the witness said, “We quickly called the attention of men of the War Against Indiscipline and Corruption (WAIC) Brigade, who after a scuffle overpowered him.”
On him were various charms and upon further search he had a machete hidden in his trousers.
Asked what his mission was, he was not coherent, in a breadth saying he was going to the farm, in another claiming he was on an errand for his father.
He had no tenable reason to justify his conduct.
Subsequently, Amotekun operatives arrived the venue and took him to Sunsun Police divisional headquarters at Arowomole.
Reacting to the incident, Area Commander, WAIC, Ogbomoso zone, Commandant Rotimi Adigun, who also rushed down to the venue said it was a strange behaviour.
He informed that it took his men some time before he could be overpowered, “If not that they are skilled too, they wouldn’t have been able to take him down,” Commandant Adigun, popularly known as Bintin said.
He added, “The man could not explain his mission at the venue, he was saying all sorts of nonsense and so, we invited the Amotekun operatives who handed him over to the police.”
This was confirmed at the station by a source who disclosed the suspect would be charged to court after the Salah holiday for conduct likely to breach public peace.
