Two persons were crushed on commercial motorcycle (okada) this evening at Caretaker area of Ogbomoso by an articulated vehicle in a traffic holdup.
The victims, a female secondary school student said to be returning from school and the okada operator she was riding on got trapped between two trucks as the okada operator tried to maneuver between the two trucks so as to beat the traffic holdup.
According to an eyewitness, who gave his name simply as Elijah, the commercial motorcyclist overtook the trailers held up in his lane “and embarked on the dangerous ride until an oncoming trailer veered towards him, and as he tried to dodge, he got hooked to another (with registration number XU792 – ZAR), causing the okada to fall and the two occupants were at the mercy of the trailer’s tyres.”
Meanwhile, the driver of the articulated vehicle that knocked down the two was not even aware, it was sympathizers who pursued the vehicle to get the driver informed about the accident.
The two were subsequently taken to Bowen University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), Ogbomoso, where they are currently receiving treatment.
ogbomosoinsightonline.com could not however speak with the victims as medical personnel were busy attending to them.
