The crisis rocking Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaaye has taken another dimension as the global headquarters of the socio-cultural association has issued a query letter to the chairman of the home branch, Prince Aderemi Olude.

The missive, titled, “Official query letter,” and signed by High Chief Okesanya Akintunde,  the general secretary, highlights a number of “misconducts” against Prince Olude and demanded that he submits his reply “within seven days.”

The president of the association, Justice Afolabi Adeniran (retd), did not append his signature to the letter though Chief Okesanya, asserted the letter is written based on the directive of the president.

“I have the instructions of the National President of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaaye in person of Hon. Justice Afolabi Adeniran (Rtd) to write this letter to you,” the query letter began.

“We have received numerous reports from well-meaning individuals in Ogbomoso calling our attention to your various acts of misconduct and misbehaviour which tend to tarnish the good reputation of our society which has continuously been built up since nearly eighty years (80) ago.”

However, Prince Olude, who on Thursday led members of the home branch to the palace of the Soun Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye to intimate him of the branch’s pet programme, “Ogbomoso Oneness Initiative” (Isokan l’anfe l’Ogbomoso mararun), has dismissed the query letter  as lacking the imprimatur of the president.

Among others he was alleged of “extortion of money from innocent individuals, one of which is a group called JARIBOLA.”

He is also alleged of arrogating power to himself as the preeminent authority in the association as home branch chairman, who the national executive must also ”bow to anytime any of them is in Ogbomoso,” adding, “Our attention has also been drawn to a recorded voice message in which you were bragging as the all in all in the organization.”

Furthermore, he is queried on the ground of joining others to take the Oyo state government to court sequel to the relocation of the Faculty of Agriculture Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, to Iseyin, despite the decision of the global secretariat to “abide by the decision of the Oyo state government,” and “also in flagrant disregard of the association you organized a protest against the decision.”

It concludes, “We need your reaction to the above within SEVEN (7) DAYS from the date of this letter before we consider any further action.”

Prince Olude while speaking with ogbomosoinsightonline.com denied the allegations positing, “It is a contrivance of a few individuals bent on getting me out of the way.”

He insisted the president “knew nothing about the letter, and that is why his signature is not there. It is the secretary and a few others who have hijacked the association. It is a kangaroo query letter.”

He said he had earlier “written a reply but decided not to submit it after I understood what’s happening,” while making counter-accusations, as he stressed, “The time of talk is not now.”

Ogbomoso Insight reported earlier that Oba Ghandi Olaoye had given commitment to re-organizing the association, the disclosure he made  during an interface with the home branch leadership last Thursday.

Recall also that the traditional ruler shunned the annual general meeting of the association last December following what a palace source described as “irreconcilable circumstances before and during the event,” just as sometime last year that key members of the youth wing of the association were alleged of being among the “mob” that demonstrated “unruly behaviour” against the Oba during site inspection of a proposed modern market stalls in front of the Ogunlola Hall.

This and other alleged misconducts led Prince Olude to proclaim one time that the executive committee of the youth wing would be suspended.

In the meantime, fingers are crossed as to how things will pan out.
