Today and always we shall continue to celebrate the life of our father and patriarch, Late former Governor Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina. Baba Lam, as most would refer to him, was an embodiment of great character, humility and humanity.

I remember how Baba as governor would call we local government chairmen randomly checking on our welfare and our families’. He would say to me on such random, hurried land line calls, “Peter! It’s Lam. How are your wife and children? I’m just calling to check up on you.” The resultant effect of such calls on me was always an excitement that wouldn’t wane for days. Such was the simple life he lived.
One of life’s immortal lessons is that the best way to simply live is to live simply. Baba would never exalt power above humanity. And that is the great life we continue to celebrate.

The tragedy of great men is that they are most felt as memories. At the passing of the years is our remembrance of this patriarch firmed by time. His love for his fellow men will never fade from the hearts of us privileged to know him while he passed by as it remains our absolute motivation to do better.
Rest on Great Lam!
