1st anniversary: Onisapa seeks rotational chairmanship for traditional council in Ogbomoso South

Onisapa (Orisatolu) of Isapa kingdom Oba Ezekiel Abolarinwa Olajide has appealed to the leadership of Ogbomoso South local government to consider rotational chairmanship for the traditional council in the local government area.
Oba Olajide made this request in his address on Friday during the celebration of his first coronation anniversary at his palace located at Arada.
Also asking that Onisapa be made a member of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Olajide noted this becomes imperative “because Orisatolu (progenitor of Onisapa stool) is one of the earliest settlers that founded Ogbomoso.”
The monarch said the status of Onisapa was elevated to that of an Oba in 2007 during the reign of his immediate predecessor Oba Buraimoh Amodu. “We became a beaded-wearing Oba in 2011 and our Chieftaincy Declaration was approved by the Oyo state government in 2018 all during the reign of Oba Buraimoh Amodu.”

Oba Olajide also solicited improved welfare package for traditional rulers and chiefs in the council area while highlighting some of his achievements in the last one year.
These include various programmes to enhance the health statuses of the people of the local government area, improved security at Arada market through provision of street lights he facilitated from Senator Fatai Buhari representing Oyo North senatorial district, acquisition of more lands for the expansion of Arada market, construction of Isapa palace which is nearing completion which he disclosed had not reached lintel stage when he ascended the throne, and repair of boreholes at Arada market and at the palace.
Some others are introduction of loan schemes for market women to support their businesses and to women in the family, installation of palace chiefs and staging of Onisapa football competition for teams across Ogbomoso zone which ended recently.
He emphasized, “We are for peace, progress and development of our fatherland, that is what Isapa people stand for.”

The well-attended event also witnessed installation of chiefs and Baales including HRH Abdulrasaq Alamu Oyetunde (Olukotun of Ikotun), Alhaja Falilat Ahmed (Erelu Onisapa) and Iyalaje of Isapa.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion included the chairman of Ogbomoso South local government Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy (represented by his vice, Alhaja Medinat); Soun of Ogbomoso Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye (represented by the Areago of Ogbomoso, High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin); Aale of Okelerin, Oba Samuel Babatunde Amao; Alepata of Igboho; and Onigbeti of Igbeti.
Some others were Alapa of Okin-Apa, Oba John Akinola Akintola; Oloko of Oko, Oba Solomon Akinola; Oloolo of Oolo, Oba Michael Oyebunmi Ajayi, Iba Abogunde, Oba Tajudeen Aminu; Alabaa of Abaa and Oniro of Iro.
