Parrot FM ace broadcaster emerges as ‘Book Reading Master,’ dedicates appt to Akala’s memory

Mr. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Gbadamosi has been appointed as the coordinator of the Ogbomoso Book Club, an appointment he swiftly dedicated to late governor of Oyo state and founder of Parrot FM, Ogbomoso, Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, whose 3rd memorial anniversary was held January 12.
The appointment was made known via a letter Monday by the Read Across Nigeria (RAN), an association dedicated to inspiring and nurturing love for books and learning.
RAN, in the conveyance letter signed by its national coordinator, Wole Adedoyin, pointed out Gbadamosi’s emergence was as a result of his demonstrated “passion for promoting reading culture and literary development within the Ogbomosho community and beyond,” underlining he has an initial tenure of two years.
“With great pleasure, we introduce Mr. Gbadamosi Olanrewaju Ibrahim as the newly appointed Coordinator of Ogbomosho Book Club, an initiative of Read Across Nigeria (RAN) registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under Registration Number 7496657. Mr. Ibrahim’s appointment is for an initial term of two years, renewable based on performance and mutual agreement,” the letter stated.
“Mr. Gbadamosi Olanrewaju Ibrahim brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm, and dedication to this role. He has demonstrated a passion for promoting reading culture and literary development within the Ogbomosho community and beyond.”
The Urban and Regional Planning graduate of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, will as coordinator “oversee the club’s activities, ensure the successful implementation of its programs, and foster collaborations that align with the Club’s mission to inspire and nurture a love for books and learning.”

The Ogbomoso Book Club is part of RAN’s nationwide network, and is “committed to fostering literacy and creating vibrant literary communities.”
RAN expresses immense confidence in Gbadamosi’s ability to take the club to new heights “and contribute significantly to the intellectual growth of the community,” while soliciting support and cooperation for his leadership.
Dedicating his new role to the late former governor, Gbadamosi, in a press statement said, “This appointment is dedicated to the loving memory of our esteemed Late Former Governor of Oyo state, Otunba (Dr) Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala, a visionary leader and ardent advocate for education and literacy.”
He asserted Chief Alao-Akala unwaveringly supported various initiatives to promote knowledge and inspire countless individuals, praising the late icon for identifying the potentials in him and bringing him into mainstream journalism.
“The man who saw the potentials in me and triggered and ignited it with confidence, even when I was afraid to toe the line.”
Fondly called “Lanre Badmus” he promised to promote literary activities and literacy and use the platform to continue to “honor Governor Akala’s commitment to empowering minds and fostering a culture of learning.”
In his acceptance letter Gbadamosi also assured his leadership would focus on “engaging events, facilitate meaningful discussions, and promote the club’s activities.”
Giving further introduction of the “Ogbomoso Book Reading Master,” RAN notes in a publication, “Born and raised in Ibadan, Gbadamosi Olanrewaju Ibrahim is a journalist with a unique blend of skills and a background in urban planning. Currently a presenter with Parrot FM, Ogbomosho, he attended Loyola College, Ibadan, before earning a Bachelor of Technology in Urban and Regional Planning from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). He later pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising, showcasing his versatility and dedication to lifelong learning.
