Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo (generalissimo) of Yorubaland, is awed by the Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III.

Speaking as a special guest at the grand finale of the maiden Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival at the Soun Stadium, Monday, Iba Adams said he had reservations when Oba Olaoye was installed as the Soun of Ogbomoso “because l feared other religious faiths would be relegated being a pastor. But we are being proved wrong. Priests of the three religions led prayers at the start of this event. It shows he is not biased against any religion. This is a demonstration that the quintessential monarch is out to promote the culture and tradition of Ogbomoso and develop its tourism potentials. This will certainly move the town forward and boost its economy. The carnival is a fantastic initiative of the Oba. ”

He went on to praise the prowess of Ogbomoso people, asserting, “Ogbomoso cannot be sidelined, it is a town to be reckoned with. When you talk of military prowess you mention the town, more than any other town it alone produced six Aare Ona Kakanfos, out of 15.

“When you talk of modern Nigeria in terms of military, you talk of Benjamin Adekunle, we all know his exploits in the Nigerian Civil War, and you talk of Inspector General Sunday Adewusi. When you talk of politics in Nigeria as you mention Chief Obafemi Awolowo, you talk of Chief S.L. Akintola. There is also Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala. Ogbomoso is a great city, a land of valiant, of towering people,” he enthused.
