Ogbomosoland Consultative Council hails members in govts

Ogbomosoland Consultative Council (OCC) has congratulated indigenes of the ancient city, particularly those who belong to the association for their steadfast and worthy contributions to the socio-economic development of Nigeria now and in the past

 

OCC, founded in the twilight of the reign of the immediate past Soun of Ogbomoso Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III JP, CON, CFR, composed of prominent sons and daughters of the city, who have made their mark in various fields, and headed at inception by the trio of Gen. Oladayo Popoola (rtd), Dr Saka Balogun and (now late) Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, has been involved in advancing the cause of the zone.

Hon. Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji, who represented Ogbomoso North State Constituency between 2015 and 2023, and currently appointed by President Bola Tinubu as Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB); Engr Muftau Open Salawu, a top business executive, is currently Director General Project Monitoring Agency Oyo state, appointed by Governor Seyi Makinde; and Prof Sola Adepoju, former Director General, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), and recently appointed Chairman, Governing Board of Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State; are members congratulated and celebrated in a statement.

Recall, Chief Sunday Dare, immediate past Minister for Youths and Sports Development, also recently appointed Special Adviser on Public Communications and Orientation to President Bola Tinubu, was earlier congratulated, as he’s likewise a member of OCC.

 

This is as Mr. Zacch Adedeji, another member, has been serving for over a year as chairman Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) and as Special Adviser on Revenue Generation to the President.

 

“The Council is proud of your track record of distinguished service as a public servant, a two-term state legislator and now as a technocrat. It is worth recalling that as a legislator you championed bills on education, gender equality and community development, leaving indelible marks. We are therefore grateful to President Bola Tinubu in noting these sterling qualities to appoint you to national responsibility to ensure that consumers’ rights are protected, that people have value for their money and are offered only safe products,” OCC notes of Hon. Oladeji in the statement, signed by Gen. Poooola and Dr Balogun.

 

Continuing, it submits, “The Council has no doubt that you will bring to bear in this new assignment your known commitment and dedication to duty.”

Of Engr. Salawu, who is Babalaje of Ogbomoso, the socio-cultural organisation remarks, “The Council notes with pride that your elevation testifies to the fact of your commitment to the service of Oyo State, which is recognized by Engr. Seyi Makinde. Governor of Oyo State.

 

“Your previous service as Executive Assistant on Project Monitoring to the Governor resonated well with Governor Makinde, hence he saw the need for your recent elevation.

“As Babalaje of Ogbomosoland, the esteemed title eloquently speaks volumes of your capacity to deliver on the mandate. We are therefore confident that your experience will be an asset to meet up to ensure standard procedure in project execution in Oyo State.”

In the same vein, it says of Adepoju, “We note with pride that your appointment is a testament of your commitment to the service which has been aptly recognized by the Federal Government.

 

“Your tenure as Director General, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) represented a watershed in the history of the institute, marked with monumental achievements. Your excellent performance must have brought you to the special attention of the President, hence, the latest appointment.

OCC affirms its readiness to continue to support and pray for its members and other Ogbomoso indigenes serving the nation and the state in various capacities.
