Egbe Omo Ogboomoso Parapo Agbaaye has dissociated itself from an alleged attack on the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye.

.

This clarification was the highlight of the monthly meeting of the home zone of the socio-cultural organization held Thursday at the Ogunlola Hall premises, Oja’gbo.

Recall Oba Ghandi was allegedly subjected to unbecoming behaviour by some “misguided” people at the Oja’gbo Market in October during a visit to address the traders on the plan to rebuild the market towards improving its architecture, structure and layout.

Fingers were quickly pointed at a section of the youth wing of the umbrella association and was accused of working in cahoots with some other disgruntled elements to instigate the attack. This story gained traction with people now beginning to see the Ogbomoso Parapo as being in opposition to the monarch.

However, the chairman of the home zone, Prince Aderemi Olude, while speaking at the meeting on Thursday, attended by ogbomosoinsighronline.com on invitation, said it is a wrong assumption to associate Ogbomoso Parapo with the “messy” occurrence.

He stressed Ogbomoso Parapo as a major stakeholder in the city could not have been involved in such malady.

Prince Olude recalled the many contributions of the association in the past and presently, specifically mentioning its unequalled role in the founding of the first ever secondary school in Ogbomoso – Ogbomoso Grammar School.

“We state categorically that Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo is not involved in the attack on the Soun. It’s wrong to assume or make such claim,. How can we engage in such messy conduct?” he said.

“The association is a major stakeholder in Ogbomoso with significant contributions to its development. It established the first secondary school in Ogbomoso, Ogbomoso Grammar School, and has ever held the Soun in the highest esteem and with reverence. We didn’t send anyone to engage in such and we utterly condemn the attack and dissociate ourselves from it.”

He asserted Soun is one of the three paramount traditional rulers in Oyo state noting with a sense of pride that “Soun is indeed first among equals because Ogbomoso produced the highest number of Are Ona Kakanfos (Yoruba generalissimo), and played unparalleled role in preventing the dissolution of Nigeria through the prowess of Brigadier Benjamin Maja Adekunle. So, Soun as the monarch of the town is held in great reverence and we cannot be part of those denigrating the stool..”

Some leaders of the youth wing alleged of involvement in the”October show of shame” who were at the meeting also denied being part of the small mob that unleashed the unsavoury conduct.

Meanwhile, the association expressed its preparedness for the upcoming Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival between December 19 and 23, lauding Oba Ghandi for the initiative.
