Ogbomoso community sends SOS to council boss on dead body

Residents of Attaoheed-Omoosin, Ogbomoso, Oyo state, have called on the chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, Hon George Ogunlade, to come to their aid in evacuating a corpse in their area discovered Saturday morning.
In a save-our-soul message by the people of the area they begged the chairman to save them the risk of environmental hazard like disease outbreak, odious odour, flies and the likes that may arise if left unattended to.

“If the corpse bursts you can imagine the outcome,” a community leader said, while speaking with ogbomosoinsightonline.com Tuesday evening . “We appeal to the authorities of Ogbomoso North to order the evacuation of the corpse. It constitutes health hazard and eyesore to be seeing the corpse.”

ogbomosoinsightonline.com reports the discovery of the corpse in an abandoned fish pond on Saturday following which the community made a report at the Owode Police Station. On Monday, operatives of the Oyo State Fire Service brought out the corpse from the pond but put it by its bank. It’s the responsibility of the Environmental Health Department of the council to evacuate the body.

The director of the environmental health department, Mrs. Ojo Samson, who visited the site on Tuesday assured the body would be removed promptly but as at the evening the residents said it is still there.
