Oyo senator Yunus Akintunde to flood constituency with 10, 000 solar lights, 120 solar boreholes

Dr Yunus Abiodun Akintunde, representing Oyo Central senatorial district, has disclosed he would install 120 solar panel boreholes and 10, 000 solar street lights in the constituency covering eleven local governments comprising 118 wards. The district covers two local governments in Ogbomoso zone, four in Oyo zone and five in Ibadan.
Dr Akintunde made this disclosure Wednesday during a visit to the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Ogo-Oluwa local government area, at the temporary site in Iresaapa, Surulere local government.

Akintunde, chairman Senate Committee on Environment saying he attended a polytechnic as well before proceeding to a university promised to allocate some of the solar street lights to Ayede Poly as he pledged other supports.
He said it was his joy to contribute to the progress of humanity especially education advancement highlighting his constituency is primary in his focus.

According to a social media post by the Protocol and Public Relations Office of the Ayede Polytechnic, Akintunde said, “I am part of polytechnic system. I started from The Polytechnic, Ibadan before going to Lagos State University, Ojoo, Lagos. I’m a lover of knowledge and I am always striving to contribute my quota in the area of education and skills development, among others and in the legislative assignments as my primary responsibility.
“I am glad to be here and to identify with Federal Polytechnic Ayede.”
He consequently urged political office holders to serve with the aim of bequeathing enduring legacies.

He was received on behalf of the rector Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed by Acting Rector and who is Deputy Rector (Academics), Mr Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo.
His assistance was sought for the development of both the temporary and permanent sites of the institution.
The polytechnic among others is seeking the construction of the access road to the permanent site (Idi-Araba to Ayede), which is believed will facilitate commencement of academic activities at the site in view of the volume of facilities erected there.
